Janelle's research examines intra- and inter-cultural processes of college students’ global competence development. Her clinical and applied interests include emerging identity formation in adults, trauma/resilience, and the impact of travel-based experiences on young women’s leadership development. Her recent publications focus on topics related to college students intercultural competence development, short-term study abroad, and assessment in global learning. She has also traveled with students to conduct community-based research in Panama, Peru and Nicaragua.
Janelle earned a B.A. in Psychology at Wake Forest University, and a dual Ph.D. in Clinical and School Psychology at the University of Virginia.
